    Bloggers influencing a generation

Today, I’m going to write about some of my favorite blogs that are always a source of inspiration when it comes to ideas for traveling, fashion news, restaurant tips and lifestyle-related topics.

No conventional travel blog, with a touch of fashion. Motto: visuals say more than a thousand words. Unlike many other blogs with similar themes, this one is not too text-focused and tries to find a deeper sense in life and things related. It’s more personal and intimate and goes beyond the beautiful surface.

To me, this blog is influential because of the visuals. Visuals speak for themselves – stunning photos from all around the world are captivating and a huge inspiration as they directly address the acute desire to visit those fantastic places, too. Pictures take one directly on a visual trip in mind – either to experience it some time later in reality – and if not – simply to inspire to dream.

This blog is more of a fashion blog – the author has her own fashion label - mixing up travels and brand collaborations, embracing the demand for more versatile content. Still very visual, but with its main focus on the product/ brand presented.

The blog is influential because of the effortlessness fashion and style is being presented. There’s no affectation, no artificiality but a lot of authenticity, sympathy and credibility. The blogger is a girl like you and me and that’s why the audience can easily identify with.

More of an all-rounder, this blog may seem to cover the typical bunch of topics fashion-beauty-lifestyle-travel, adding on a food section, but it’s more than that same old story. I love this blog for its beautifully curated travel insiders guides, they are little gems and I even used them for my own travels at times. The interviews with chefs featured in the food section beside recipes are also quite unique to me. With an own influencers section, the blog also incorporates all those people serving as a source of inspiration, which is a clever move, too.

It could be the celebrity-factor that drives influence here, but to me, it’s simply great, compelling content paired with lots of positivity.

I know this blog often gets negative publicity, most often because of the owner, Gwyneth Paltrow, is being attacked for any weird reason. I don’t care about that as it’s a pretty cool, inspiring and versatile blog with an integrated approach, as it covers nearly every aspect of life. Beside the usual suspects shop-beauty-health-fashion-travel it adds some psychology in the ‚be’-section to enrich content and make it more substantial which is a nice alternation to many other blogs. The travel guides are really great, too, and I love browsing them to pick the one or the other idea for my own travels. They are a huge source of inspiration I usually don’t find elsewhere on the web (except for Thetig, maybe). Also, to be kept in mind, as the target audience seems to be upper income, not each and every single aspect is meant to be useful or an option for your real life, but that’s not the point here.

Mainly a travel blog, but as usual, the theme is extended to related rubrics such as lifestyle, recipes etc. Since the blog is extremely successful, one part focuses on blogging tips, too. This blog is very pragmatic and hands on in its approach. If you’re looking for tips where to stay, eat or what to do for your favorite destination, this is a go to option. No epic texts, no special focus on visuals, not too much of a personal note, here you get what you expect, simply. This may work well for those seeking pure information and less for those who like to dive into a blogger-world with own thoughts to share. But - what’s really great about this blog, is that the well-traveled author managed to create a whole travel lifestyle world around the core topic travel destination guides. With all kinds of practical tips for traveling in general the blog is adding a lot more value to the whole travel theme. These are tips to be used in real life, tried and tested, down-to-earth and for this reason inspirational for your own (travel-)life.

What are blogs you like, and why do you like them? What makes them special in your eyes?

    Love to hear your thoughts.
